I saw the Witch Doctor...

Ok, he wasn't really a witch doctor, but for some reason I couldn't get that song out of my head. Actually, he was a really great doctor. It was my first visit with him and I was pretty nervous. I still think of myself as a 12 yr old and have trouble talking to "adults", so to make sure everything got said that needed to, I brought an advocate with me, my mommy. Yes, as a 25 yr old with 2 kids, I had to bring my mommy to the doctors with me, and no she didn't hold my hand! It's ok you can make fun, it's pretty pathetic, I just get so shy and nervous. Anyways, Mother by my side, we told the doctor everything that has been bugging me for years and more recently. He asked lots of questions and seemed very knowledgeable, especially in the area of lyme disease, which is why I went to see him. By the end, he had concluded that something was very wrong and wanted to test for several different things, including lyme. After taking lots of blood, they let us know it would be about a week or so until the results were in. Now we are back to the waiting game, but I am definitely sidelined until then. Not a super informative visit, no great mystery solved, but I finally feel like we are getting closer.

As far as the rest of my plan, it hasn't been fully played out yet due to further complications with my body, but I'll have more on that later. I need to be better about trying to do whatever I can, namely the stretching. So, that is the update. Stay tuned, I sense a cheer me up giveaway coming tomorrow!

Bummer about another week's wait, hopefully it's the first step in recovery.

Hey, I always bring a list of things I want to ask at the doctors (mostly because my Mommy lives too far away to go with me), I get nervous too. Like I'm not smart enough to talk to them haha. Good job taking steps to figure out what's going on, hopefully it's a fast week!

That is a bummer that you have to wait another week to get your results. Hopefully when you get them, they'll be able to give you some answers!

I just found out I have fibromyalgia, which explains why I am so exhausted all the time and everything on my body hurts. Good to have an idea what it is, bad because there is not really a cure or one-size fits all treatment. Hard to go from college athlete and coach to wanting to sleep all day and not having enough energy to walk to the mailbox...so I feel your pain! Hang in there, hopefully this doctor will be able to help!

I just read Bart Yasso's Comrades story in RW (I'm slow). So weird to have Lyme coming up twice in as many days. Hope you get it resolved and are up and running soon!

Oh my goodnes I am so sorry! That is so scary! Don't worry I am 24 and I still bring my mom to anything important like talking to adults! Good luck and please keep us updated, I am worried!

I still take my mom with me to the Dr office! I hope in a week, you'll have some results that aren't too terrible and the problem can be fixed relatively easy/fast! hang in there! You're in my prayers!

There is nothing wrong with bring Mom along, I tend to space out while at the doc's, so an extra pair of ears to remember something that I might have forgotten is very helpful

I hope you recieve some good news when the results arrive

First, big hugs to you!

I think that it's totally cool to bring your mom along! :) Not only did she probably provide you a bit of comfort, but it's always great to have a second set of ears!

I would bring my mommy if she lived closer!!!

I hope you get some answers really soon and can formulate a plan for recovery.

Marcia mentioned the Yasso article in Runner's World... it is a must read, regardless... had me in tears for at least half of it.

I'm so glad you saw somebody and really hope you get some good solid answers!! hang in there. I totally feel your pain. It's hard to feel a part of the world when you can do so little. This appt. is hopefully the first step in a great outcome. You'll be back at it, in no time!

I'm so glad that you had your mother to go to the doctor with you. My guys are a bit older and dragging them there with me is no fun.

Hopefully, you'll have some answers soon. Way to keep your spirits up!
